Relationship Anxiety

I worry a lot when I don't talk to my new girlfriend (Been dating for around a week now) so I try my best to call her, text her and facebook message her quite often but then I also worry that I may be talking to her too much and she may think I am clingy.

Since we have been dating I haven't been able to eat as much as I normally do, I generally do not have breakfast now, only have a little bit for lunch but I can eat normally during dinner time. I also find that I cannot sleep that much now, last night I was super tired and went to bed at 10PM and woke up at 4:30AM and couldn't fall back asleep as I just lay there worrying until 9AM till I decided to get out of bed.

She promised me that she would never cheat on me, but I honestly don't know why all this is happening. I just want to be happy with her and I just want to eat and sleep properly. Any ideas on what I should do?

Hello and welcome!

Any new relationship, while fun and exciting, can be stressful.  You are just feeling each other out and getting to know more about each other.  It's only been a week, so you need to try to ease into this a bit more slowly.  It's normal to feel insecure in a new relationship, especially since you've been hurt before.

Trust is important and of course there is never a guarantee someone won't betray that trust, but you have to try to trust her, or you will conitinue to worry needlessly, especially if she has given you no reason to be suspicious.

Take it slow and try not to smother her.  That's a quick way to sabotage a relationship.  Allow the relationship to grow at a comfortable pace.  Good luck!

It may just be that you crazy about this girl. And its normal, and I would not worry, if it works out thats great if not, there are plenty of fish in the sea...lol Just try to relax and not worry so much. I would not constantly call, text, facebook. Have you been burnt before by somebody? Just being together for a week, its way to early in a relationship to be clingy and your right most girls dont like that. Go out with your friends, and try to keep it off your mind. And just see how it all unfolds.... good luck :-)

Thank you so much for your response kalie1979

I have been burnt before by my ex girlfriend who cheated on me, and now it leaves me with this huge feeling that if I don't talk to her for a while she may want to go for someone else but then I also get this feeling that if I talk to her too much she WILL go for someone else.

Thank you for your advice. I feel much better already. I guess you are right, if we are not meant to be then we are not meant to be and I can just find someone else

Thank you!

You are absolutely right, she has done nothing for me to be suspicious about and I guess my worrying is just making things worse. I have been contacting her a bit less, occasionally calling her but not having long conversations like usual just the short 10 minute or so ones.

I hope as the relationship continues my insecurity evaporates and I feel happier. Thank you so much again
