Running out of meds and have no doctor to go to need meds ASAP what to do?

My doctor retired and gave me 3 refills on all my meds and I have 1 refill left but my pharmacy said they won't fill because my doctor is retired. I have now only a couple doses left, and I haven't been able to see my new psychiatrist yet because they don't have an appointment for another 4 weeks. I contacted them about this discovery from my pharmacy 2 days ago. And they won't fill them because I've never been seen yet as a patient. I don't have a primary doctor so I have no doctor to see. What do I do?

Are you sure it's because your doctor is retired, or because the prescription has expired?  A doctor remains a doctor even when retired.  If you run out you will face a high risk of withdrawal.  Do you have a general practitioner?  They can give you a prescription too until you see your new psychiatrist.  You might also contact your old doc and explain the situation.  I'd also contact the office of the new doc if nothing else works and explain that if they don't give you a temporary refill they will be responsible if you go into withdrawal.  If all else fails, go to the ER complaining of anxiety peaking and tell them what's going on and they can write you a temporary refill to tide you over.
