Tappering off Celexa and weight gain

I have a couple of questions.  I am on Celexa 20mg and Lamictal 150.  I have been on them for a couple of years.  Started off with Celexa and then added the Lamictal.  I started to gain weight before I got on Lamictal.  I gained 50 pounds in two years, since then I have been the excat same weight(for the past two years).  I also just found out I have hypothyrodism.  I started medication for that and go back shortly to test my TSH.  My psychiatrist told me that as soon as my TSH levels are in normal range we will have me start get off the celexa.  The problem is, I don't go back to him for three months.  I would like to know how to tapper off the Celexa and with me getting off of that and with the help of my thyroid medication will I start to lose weight ( I have not lost ANYTHING since I started my thyroid medication and I am dieting and exercising!!).  I go on vacation in two months I would love to lose at least 10pounds although, that isn't even close to what I need to lose.

3. will i be able to lose weight quicker

Hi Mall.  I have taken Celexa off and on for years.  I am presently on it.  It's only my opinion, but I don't think that going off Celexa will cause a weight loss.

I think getting your thyroid straightened out will really help the weight situtation.

When I went off Celexa before, I went down to 10mgs for about a week, then 10 mgs. every other day for a week, then 10mg. every two days for a week, then I went off.  I had no side effects or ill feelings.

As always it's best to see how your doctor wants to handle it.  For me, it was an easy drug to come off of.  Celexa is a good drug and I was lucky...I never suffered from any side-effects.
