Tenex (guanfacine) for anxiety?

Has anyone taken Tenex (guanfacine) for symptoms of anxiety, and if so could you please share your experience. Thanks.

Guanfacine is a centrally-acting alpha-2 agonist, an "old school" antihypertensive. It is a very potent drug, and because it acts primarily on brain receptors, it carries a plethora of adverse side effects. Orthostatic hypotension and fainting spells would be the worst two.
It has no useful benefit in the treatment of anxiety. It's not even prescribed for hypertension anymore, unless it's of the treatment resistant type.
Rarely, it is prescribed in combination with Ritalin to treat ADHD in children.
