I have the weirdest thing I want to share with everyone. My anxiety symptoms have cycles! I get up around 7:00 am and read the paper and eat breakfast around 9:00. None or minor symptoms. Symptoms begin at 9:30 and include, heat radiating in my arms, weakness in the thighs, head pressure, extreme sleeppyness, bleary eyes, and nausea.
This persists until noon or one when I have lunch. I have to take a nap because I am so tired. The nap is the worst because I can't sleep and yet am so tired. Symptoms are severe at this point. I get up around 3 and workout at my club. The symptoms start to leave me about a half hour into my workout. I get home and have a late dinner. Never, ever do I have the symptoms persist into dinner, around seven. As a matter of fact I comment to my wife that "I can feel them leaving me." I even have tried to recreate the symptoms with negative thoughts and have not been able to do so. I go to bed, take my Ambien, and have a good night's rest.
I take Ativan, as needed (nap) and have just completed a Lexapro withdrawal and have switched to Prozac (20mg) which has not kicked in yet.
I would encourage everyone to take a good look at your symptoms and see if there is a cyclical effect. For me, just taking this look gives me more of a sense of control against that which is such a mystery (anxiety).
