Be patient with your medication and yourself.  I know all of this is very scary but that's all it is is fear, and the fear feeds our anxiety which creates more fear so breaking that cycle is imperative...but never easy.  Anxiety won't hurt us just scare the heck out of us.  Know each day on your medication is a day closer to feeling better.  Take care.

I agree, it is a pretty scary/surreal feeling. I really hope the medication helps you! It also may help trying some vitamins and supplements. Vitamin B Stress Complex is a good daily vitamin and there are a bunch of minerals that benefit brain chemistry as well. It may be a good idea to research some of them and try it out. You need to keep with it consistently for a month or so before you start to feel the complete benefits of it.
There's really no harm in trying! =) Just make sure you always notify your doc/psychiatrist of any medications you're taking, including vitamins and supplements. Some of them interact with certain meds.

Best wishes!!!!

Yes, that's what anxiety is for the most part. It's no fun at all! Have you tried seeing a therapist or any medication to manage your anxiety? Life could be pretty rough if you aren't taking steps to fix it. Good luck to you!

Sounds very much l you're descibing "derealization", a very common side effect of severe and/or chronic anxiety.  It's basically a harmless alteration in our perception of our world around us.  Everything "looks" weird, almost as though in a dream state, or as if you're watching your life on a movie screen.  When I first experienced this, I went to the eye doctor numerous times, convinced there was something wrong with my vision, only to get an "a-ok" over and over.

Once I realized what it was, and that it was a REAL side effect and harmless, I felt so much better.  The bad news is...it can hang around for a while, and the good news is..once your anxiety can be decreased to a manageable level...the DR will improve as well.

The best thing you can do is try not to focus on the symptoms...that just makes it worse.  Keep yourself busy, and try not to ruminate about it...and of course, seeking help for the anxiety is a must.  We discussed your meds briefly in the other thread, but how about therapy?  Are you getting any?  If not, it's a must...ask your doc for a referral.

Hang in there...do some searching about DR and let me know if that seems to make sense.  The other similar side effect of anxiety is "depersonalization" which is also an alteration of our perception, but DP has more to do with one's perception of themselves.  In that case, people report that they think they look different, feel different, not like themselves.  Some people even report feeling more like an object than a person.

If you look on my profile, in my journals, there is a couple about DP/DR...you can see by the comments just how many people go through this.
