Too afraid to sleep

Almost every night I am too afraid to go to sleep because I think someone is going to break into our house and kill me or something. I think that our dogs would bark if someone did but im still way to afraid to convince myself to go to bed. Honestly I sleep with a 12 gauge shotgun. We don't live in a city or a crime area and I don't know why I'm do freaked out but I cant keep doing this and I get very little sleep ever.

I think so. I have two little bitty chihuahua's and they let me know if anyone is even close to my house.

Are 2 very large dogs a good enough alarm in your opinion? They are very loud.

I can understand your fears, especially in today's climate. Would it ease your fears if you put in a central station alarm system that would notify the police while sounding the alarm? I say this because I currently live in an apartment where I feel pretty secure. I've been thinking of buying a house and have the same fear that you do. Beside my dog, I would definitely put in an alarm system for the added security.

No, I don't think there is anything to be concerned about because you have no reason to be afraid. I was just wondering if you had watched a scary movie, heard some story or something like that.
I'm still recommending counseling to help you deal with your fears.

Not a particular reason.  Is this something to actually be concerned about? A lot of the time if I don't just pass out from exhaustion I will wait until sunrise to fall asleep. Because I am afraid if I fall asleep, something will happen and I won't be awake.

Is there a reason you're afraid? I would recommend counseling to help you get over this fear.
