Unsure about diagnosis

Hi, I am a 20 yr old male and unsure about my doctor's diagnosis. I have had heart flutters, constant chest pressure and occasional shortness of breath for about 2 months now. I have had 2 EKG's, a 24 hr. Holter monitor, pulmonary function studies and blood tests. Everything seems fine.  The doctors think I have anxiety but the symptoms are constant and im not so sure.. it's really frightening and I don't know what else to do.. has anyone had symptoms like these? Any help would be appriciated

Mr Green is bang on when he says that we you start to accept the symptoms will eventually start to fade. If the doctors have given you a thorough workup (sounds like they have) then you have to start to try and trust that there is nothing physically wrong with you. Are brains are oh so powerful. I had horrific symptoms for 5 months straight without them ever lessening and they got worse as time went on rather than better. I had a two brain CTs, a brain MRI, a neck MRI, a lumber pucture, 4 echos, hundreds of ecgs, 48 hr heart monitor, 5 weeks in hospital, a full body CT, dozens of blood tests, two abdominal ultrasounds and I still thought that they had missed something serious. I had horrendous chest pain that radiated through to my back, pains running up my arms, jaw, abdomen, pins and needles, no appetite, no sleep, breathlessness, dizziness, passing out and it was ALL anxiety and post natal depression.

Our brains really are the most powerful things and they can make you have so many symptoms that are not caused by anything other than anxiety. It is so hard to accept but when you learn to accept it will get better, not overnight but slowly things will improve.

Best of luck to you my friend

They are / can be symptoms of anxiety. You should hear back from a lot of people who had all the same tests done and went through hell thinking they had something a lot worse. Only to discover it was anxiety. I think once you accept it is anxiety it would lessen somewhat. Not saying it would vanish. Little bit of medication and maybe some theraphy and you might find yourself good as gold again. Keep us posted.
