Way too tired- Need some advice

by JD3P, Nov 03, 2009 11:26AM
Hello I've been taking fluoxetine 20 mgs since April of this year. It's been working, only problem is I'm incredibly exhausted. I'm in college, and taking five classes, plus have a part time job at the school. I usually have to stay late so by the time I get home I have absolutely no energy, and there is no way around it at this point in the semester. I also have a hypothyroid, I take levothyroxine for it, seems to be helping as well, at least for that problem. I have tried many things to keep up my energy, from caffeine which is incredibly bad for my thyroid (makes it swell 0_o ) and then I've tried exercise, I eat healthy, have tried eating more, have tried eating less. Only works for a little bit of time. I do not want to go off the medication, it seems to be the only thing that has helped me in years. Any advice on what I can do to get at least some energy back so that after a full and good nights sleep I don't wake up exhausted, and not being able to get through half the day without almost passing out from exhaustion?

Hello there,

Since you tried healthy diet and physical activity maybe you need more Vitamin B. Let me explain a bit on the Vitamin B.

The B vitamins act as coenzymes, compounds that unite with a protein component called an apoenzyme to form an active enzyme. The enzyme then acts as a catalyst in the chemical reactions that transfer energy from the basic food elements to the body. The B vitamins are a group of eight vitamins, which include thiamine (B1), riboflavin (B2), niacin (B3), pyridoxine (B6), folic acid (B9), cyanocobalamin (B12), pantothenic acid and biotin. Most of the B vitamins have been recognized as coenzymes, and they all appear to be essential in facilitating the metabolic processes that are essential for life. These vitamins are essential for the breakdown of carbohydrates into glucose, which provides us energy, the breakdown of fats and proteins, which aids the normal functioning of the nervous system, muscle tone in the stomach and intestinal tract, and healthy skin, hair, and eyes. Since these vitamins affect such important elements of your body, a source that provides them all in a single daily supplement is recommended.

You can try to find a Vitamin B complex supplement to your pharmacy and Vitamin B12 is naturally found in animal products, including fish, meat, poultry, eggs, milk, and milk products. Vitamin B12 is generally not present in plant foods, but fortified breakfast cereals are a readily available source of vitamin B12 with high bioavailability for vegetarians. Some nutritional yeast products also contain vitamin B12. Fortified foods vary in formulation, so it is important to read product labels to determine which added nutrients they contain.

You might take some energy capsules like Energex ( i'm not sure if they call it Energex where you live ).

You might also try Pravegra. Pravegra is a formulation that has a very good response in uro-genital system, neuromuscular system, and cardiac vascular system, digestive system and reproduction system.

Promotes the blood circulation. It corrects irregular habit of micturition, weak seamen, thin seamen, and pre-mature ejaculation. It convert seamen into energy so that people become more active, get relief from quick tiredness. It promotes vigour and vitality and presents a good and sound health to make a person physically and mentally fit and active.

I hope this information will be helpful to you. I don't recommend too much caffeine. I'd rather go with more Vitamin B.

Best regards,
M4
