wow im like the opposite when it comes to driving. i usually find it relaxing and calming when i go for a drive. idk what it is but being behind the wheel and listening to music really puts me in a great normal state of mind =) now, its a complete different story when sumbody else is driving.i find myself more anxious and jumpy i guess its just knowing that im not in control of the car. unless the person that is driving is a close friend of mine or family member then i ll be fine. but when my gf is driving i sumtimes find myself being super anxious especially when we are on the freeway ugh its worse. i get pretty much get every symptom in the book until we finally get to where we are going then i return to normal.
i have found that if you are in a car traveling a good distance and its hot (aggravates your anxiety more) by rolling up the windows and turning on the a/c it really helps keep you relaxed and calm for a long time. so thats why mine is almost always on lol
and also if ur the passenger or in the backseat and ur getting all anxious its also a good idea to grab ur cellphone and looks thru ur pictures or text a good friend. pretty good distraction method that helps me out alot.

im only 19 buht ive gone thru alot.
i was diagnosed with anxiety almost 2 years ago now.
i say its been the roughest years of my life but i can see that its only made me stronger. not only mentally but physically. If you need anymore advice or just support feel free to message me =)
best of luck

Anything that's even the least bit stressful makes me anxious.  Yes it is a royal pain!  :-)
My nervous system is in bad shape.  I always describe it to people like having a bad sunburn.
Most people can relate to having a really bad sunburn. Even the slightest touch hurts. You can't even lie down without pain.  Well that's how my nervous system is.  It responds to even the slightest thing and usually not in a good way.  Medication is like calamine lotion is for sunburn.  Eases the discomfort some, but certainly not a cure.
Yes it's no fun but what bad medical condition is?

I think I am getting to that point too, there are certain places I don't like to drive in or being stuck in a car full of people.  I like to drive to the mountains or places with very little traffic. I also have the fear of my car breaking down. I just try and see it for what it really is, it is just irrational anxiety just face the fears.

I feel quite the same as you do.  I have anxiety and depressive disorders. Most of my anxiety occurs BEFORE I actually go anywhere.  I guess it's 'anticipatory' anxiety...I get anxious that I have to go somewhere and really stressed initially but it lessens once I actually do it.
Do other things get you this anxious?  Are you having problems at work?
Have you sought help for this anxiety?

Yes I know how you feel all too well.  Traveling is quite stressufull for me too.  Some people find going for a drive relaxing but I think many don't..just look at all the 'road rage' and other things that get people out of sorts behind the wheel.
Do you get stressed out only when you are driving?  is it the act of driving or just going out that sets you off?
