Increasing dose of paxil

hi, I just started taking Paxil abt 7 weeks ago, DR. also gave me .25 xanax to help me sleep..I had gone without insurance for 2 years , and in that time I called it "the dark hole" really really depressed...I just got insurance, went right to the Dr..he put me on 20 mg paxil..things felt a little better even in the beginning..now i feel like I have some of the same old feelings..depressed, anxiety bad..etc..I go to my Dr in 10 days, do you think its too soon to see Paxil should be increased? I currently still have axiety pretty bad, usually daily..told my Dr..and he  perscribed xanex as needed ( on the script 1 a day) . I feel the Paxil is sorta working, SOO do you think I should ask him to increase it? or try something else..I told him I wanted valium or coladapin , but he want me to wait to see what my psychologist says..so too early to increase or try something else?

I was on paxil for 9 yrs. Got off in November. Last month i had horrible. Anxiety.  I tried other drugs but had 2 go back 2 paxil. It is a great medication but very addictive an horriable withdrawels. I was on 40 mg. When i went back on my doc gave me 20 mg an 3 days later upped to 40. I would call my doc an up my dose.

It's not uncommon to increase your meds. You have been on it for almost two months so your Dr may agree to increase the dose. I do understand why he wants to see how you do on the Paxil before putting you on Klonopin or another anti anxiety med. It's because you may not need it if the Paxil does work.
