Medication

I had been taking Klonopin .05 mg. 3 to 4 times daily for general anxiety. About a 6 weeks ago I had a panic attack and my NP switched me to Xanax XR 1mg. 2 times daily and .05 if needed. I want to switch back to the Klonopin now since things are better I don't really care for the Xanax XR. I have spoke to 3 different M.D. And they tell me I can switch to 1mg. Klonopin 3 times a day and then eventually taper down. I guess now I'm scared to try it. I don't like taking medication anyway. Any advise? Thanks

Hi there -
Xanax just works quicker in the body, entering and leaving rather quickly while klonapin may take a bit longer to 'work' it stays in the bloodstream longer. As long as your own doctor gives you consent to switch back, I can't see any reason for needing to 'wean' yourself off xanax - unless, of course, you feel more comfortable changing meds that way. Just remember to keep your physician in the loop! Take care now ...
