anixety or something more??

Hello. My name is Hollie. im 19 years old and i've been suffering major anxiety for the past 3years. it sometimes is so bad i cant even leave my house. Its hard for me to do easy, simple things most people take for granted everyday. like driving, going in stores, school, and ect.. i take klonopion when needed, it takes about 80% of it away. I know most of the symptoms of anixety but for the past month ive been dizzy and getting headaches its when im not nervous tho, so im thinkin how can it be anxiety and the past couple weeks ive been having shooting pains in my eye nd head, manily on the left side. im veryyyy worried. im a hypcondractic and noone really takes me seriousally. Could you please help me?
Thanks a bunch

Hollie

I had a terrible case of eye pain that came with  severe tension headache. It started after a severe alcohol intoxication and lasted for several months before subsiding. At times I felt nearly blind and could not focus. I am happy to say the pain is gone, but it took a long time and I was very worried that it never would resolve. If the eye doctor can't find something wrong, it's most likely something that will resolve on its own. I went to two neuro-opthalmologists who both told me my eyes were fine. It just took time for my eyes to agree. Please be patient, if it is still as bad in a few months, find another doctor. Good luck.

I am going through the same exact thing as you - pain in my eyes for over a week now - there is nothing wrong with my eyes (went to the eye doctor) but I might have to get a cat scan to rule out anything else.  I read about all the things it could be and of course I freaked out!    I noticed your posting was in April - can you let me know if you figured out the cause of your eye headache?

I have anxiety and been on Zoloft for four years now since I gave birth to my daughter. I had a terrible post part depression. I feel good I have my good and bad times but I am also Hipocondriac, I have very strange pain in my eyes and my face I cannot believe this could be from anxiety. It hurts a lot and its been going on for 10 days. I checked on the internet about eye pain and there were so many horrible things that can cause eye pain, that is making me nuts, What should i do???????

Hi

TRUST ME I am the same age as you and now exactly how you fell not that age has anything to do with it at all just trying to level with you !!

The best advice that I can give you is what I do myself, so here goes....

1. I researched all anxiety symptoms so I reassured myself that it was anxiety ( which by the way I truly believe yours is )

2. I then went on to try Life Coaching. This was the most amazing thing that I ever did and changed my life. I am training to be a Life Coach myself as it helped me so much

Hope  this helps c

I totally understand your comment about being a hypochondriac and noone takes you seriously.  I'm glad to know I'm not alone!  The pain you experience w/ your eye and the headaches, very real symptoms of anxiety and probably not something to be alarmed about at, especially given your history of anxiety.

Have you gone to see a therapist at all for your symptoms?  They seem to be all anxiety related.  However, you should start off with a complete physical to rule out any medical conditions.  I am sure that you are fine, but it will help to put your mind at ease...I suffered with the same type of headaches as you.  I would have sworn I had a brain tumor also.  I was 28 then and I am 40 now.  I was afraid to leave the house, to go shopping...all the little things that you are talking about.  I feel like your twin!  Once I got help things turned around for me. I am on medication, but that is your decision.  Although I still have moments of that anxiety that you speak of and some things are still a little difficult, I must admit I am 99% better than that horrible time of my life.  YOU CAN GET BETTER....BUT YOU NEED TO SEEK HELP.  Hope you feel better soon.

i get the shooting pains in my head, and eyes too. they're called icepick headaches. its the muscles in the back of our neck pulling the scalp and tightening the tendons and muscles. it can sometimes be very painful but it's completely normal and cant hurt you. it often also comes with a sore or stiff neck. and the dizziness can also be from anxiety, even if your not anxious at the time. try not to worry so much, it will go away eventually.

The headaches and eye pain can also be from nerve issues. Stress can cause your muscles to tense up, cause knots and squeeze nerves that run all through your body, therefore causing pains in other areas.  I have headaches and strange pains up my head, near my eyes and also often have left sided pains in my face and head.  I was told that the muscles in my neck are so tense that they squeeze the nerves and cause these pains.  One pain I have is called occipital neuralgia (pain that goes up behind my ear and above my eye).  Heat helps and so does ibuprofen to take down the swelling.  I also notice that alcohol or caffeine makes it much worse.  Hope this helps and makes you feel more at ease.

Are you worried about a brain tumor?  They are very rare and generally have other symptoms.  Don't look up to see what they are or you will just start getting them too.
Headaches are often caused by stress and anxiety but also most people get them.  One sided headaches can be due to migraines, sinus, jaw clenching, allergies.  All sorts of minor stuff.  try to stop leaping to the worst case scenario.

The pattern of headaches changes as you get older.  Migraines tend to worsen in your twenties I think (females).  Try to keep a log to see if they are hormonal.  I also have a headache problem with some red wines and coffee so try cutting down on these.

Good luck.
