I agree with Mammo. I'm coming up on the 1st anniversary of my dad's passing, and it's hard to believe how much my life has changed. It's been about 14 months since I started getting treated for anxiety, and the guidance I received has been invaluable. Therapy, a treatment program, and exercise has allowed me to exceed the goals I set for myself. As Mammo said, if you can start with just a walk, it makes such a big difference. Taking the time to walk gives you the opportunity to focus your thoughts, and the exercise makes a big, big difference in your general mood. I absolutely must walk 60-90 minutes a day, aside from other exercise, as part of my after-work relaxation ritual. My wife and kids understand, and go with me sometimes.
Keep asking questions and share your experiences here with others. It really helps. Good luck to you! At this point, the worst thing you can do is nothing at all...
Thanks, its so hard, im seeing a therapist, i think its all due to loosing my dad and all, a little depressed as well, working on different techniques before meds.
Have you sought professional help for your anxiety? Therapy can help you a lot with this and teach you how to think differently and cope better. We all need help at some time and that's okay! Exercise is very good for anxiety...even walking. Keep your mind occupied and when you feel your anxiety rising, think of something you enjoy, push any negative thoughts away. Do deep breathing exercises....several slow deep breaths in thru your nose and slowly out of your mouth. Journal your feelings and emotions, this is a great realease for us...even if we just toss them away. Putting our thoughts, fears and worries on paper just helps so much. If you're under 18 talk to your parents or school counselor about your feelings so you can get some help with this. Know you're not alone and you can and will get past this! Some things we just can't handle on our own and need a little help. Our anxiety can be caused by a current problem or one from our past, and this is why therapy is so important. It will be okay, and we're always here for you to talk or just vent. Take care....
