anxiety/panic disorder

  I was wondering if panic and anxiety can manifest itself into physical pains.  I have been to the Emergency Room three times since April 18th of 2007.  They ran all kinds of tests on me.  Cat scan of my heart, doppler or my left leg, doppler of my liver, multiple blood tests, ekgs, chest xrays and more.  My thyroid was found to be underactive.  I'm on Levothyroxine for that and now it is within normal range.  I have been having a crushing constant pain in my chest like its being squeezed with a vice.  At times it seems to go from the left side to the right side and sometimes down around my kidneys.  I have difficulty sleeping and my right ear rings constantly.  I am on .5 mgs of xanax three times a day.  It seems to mask the symptoms but I know its still there.  All my tests were negative but feeling these pains scares me more than anything.  Before this started in April I was a normal fairly healthy guy.  Non smoker , ocassional drinker, very active in life and now I'm anfraid to do anything because the pains can be so intense.  The psychologist said its "classic panic disorder."

I'm afraid if all your tests were negative, your doctor got it right. I myself have been fighting crushing chest pains and chronic headaches. I'm sorry you have to go through this, but when it's controlled, it gets better. love and luck!
