bad day...need of words of support

by distressed29, Sep 23, 2008 04:00PM
Having a bad day....I have been feeling so good lately then I did something I shouldn't of.  I examined and pushed on the lesion on my leg that I have been worried about.  For those of you that do not know, I had a biopsy on a lesion on my leg that the derm. suspected to be skin cancer.  Good news is that it came back as a benign solar lentigo.  However, after reading on the internet about skin biopsies ..the derm. should of done an excisional biopsy rather than a shave biopsy (which is what he did).  The internet states that a shave biopsy can lead to misdiagnosis of skin cancer.  I  have been doing so well accepting the results.  Please can someone give me some words of support so that I can continue my day...I am trying to think positively.

its might not be anything to worry about, if the doctor thought it was he would of done the excisional biopsy. but if you are still thinking about it go back or go to another derm to get the biopsy you want
hope everything works out fine, keep us posted

I agree, I think if the dr thought it may be serious he would def have done more tests. I'm sure everything is fine. My advice to you though is if it will make you feel better and ease your mind maybe you should request another biopsy. I hope you feel better and try not to worry.

I would request another biopsy, but that seems to be my problem.  I can never accept medical test results and I end up retesting and retesting.  It took 5 HIV test for me to realize I don't have HIV.  I need to get out of this routine.
