catch 22 situation

These are my symptoms:
Nausea almost daily, sometimes subsides by evening
shaky hands - especially in morning
hot flushes
headaches
weight loss - about 7 lbs. in past 5 months
lightheadedness
constant burping
achy shoulders, neck, and calves
spacey feeling
frequent urination
Have had ultra sound of kidneys, liver, gallbladder and spleen. Everything is okay. Going for stomach endoscopy in September due to the nausea and burping. I also have recently had my thyroid meds. gradually decreased as thyroid tests showed over stimulation. (doctor is thinking maybe too much thyroid medication). Been hypothyroid for over 15 years. Still have my thyroid so not due to surgery.
My problem is I don't know if these symptoms are anxiety or coming from the thyroid  as over stimulation has much the same symptoms. I have suffered from generalized anxiety disorder for the past 10 years so I don't know which one is causing all this upheaval. My doctor says it could be both and has prescribed amitriptyline which I have taken previously for anxiety. I don't really want to take the amitriptyline because I've read that SSRIs should be used with caution if you have thyroid problems. I'm becoming really anxious and feeling more and more ill.
I would appreciate any comments or feed back about this because I feel like I'm between a rock and a hard place.
Thanks for all your support. It really helps.

Forgot to have you check out the "Thyroid Disorder" forum. I'm guessing those folks will have some good advice for you.

Sheesh.........hope I got all those numbers right!

Much of what you describe could be anxiety related. Since I'm not a doctor, I can't speculate on what could be caused by your thyroid, your thyroid meds or anxiety. This doctor that you're seeing...........is he/she an endochronologist? If not, that is who I'd see to get some answers. I don't know enough about thyroid problems other than the fact they can and often do "mimic" anxiety. But I wouldn't be happy with a doctor who says "MAYBE it's both." It could very well be both, but I want a doctor who knows for CERTAIN. Can't comment on the amitriptyline, but if you know that it should be used with caution if you have a thyroid condition, I'd sure be asking a ton of questions about that!
Many folks on this forum have thyroid issues, so I'm sure you will be getting some responses to your post that are far more informative than mine.
I wish you luck in finding your answer, which I'm certain you will.
Peace
