cj29 need some support please

Having a bad day....I have been feeling so good lately then I did something I shouldn't of.  I examined and pushed on the lesion on my leg that I have been worried about.  For those of you that do not know, I had a biopsy on a lesion on my leg that the derm. suspected to be skin cancer.  Good news is that it came back as a benign solar lentigo.  However, after reading on the internet about skin biopsies ..the derm. should of done an excisional biopsy rather than a shave biopsy (which is what he did).  The internet states that a shave biopsy can lead to misdiagnosis of skin cancer, but in most cases the shave biopsy detects melanoma.  I  have been doing so well accepting the results.  Please can someone give me some words of support so that I can continue my day...I am trying to think positively.

Call your doctor and discuss your worries with him, he will explain to you why he chose to do a shave biopsy and chances are it is a reason you do not know about and that will reassure you.

You are fine!  You have had great results back from your biopsy so relax.  Have a piece of chocolate, watch a "feel-good" movie, put your feet up and read that magazine article you did not finish, call and friend and have a coffee together, or simply listen to your favorite "I feel good" music.

I am sending you some positive vibes and I sure hope you are getting them?

Whenever I have a bad day/hour then just say to yourself that it will end, it is not permanent!  Good luck

I spoke with the nurse at the derm. office and she said if anything abnormal showed on the shave biopsy then another biopsy would of needed to be done.  Also, I wrote to the dermatologist on dermatology forum who stated that I should indeed be reassured by my biopsy results and move on.  I feel great now...I am going to move on and just visit the derm when medically necessary and for my yearly checkups.  Thanks for the support!
