This is a "chicken and egg" thing. Does anxiety cause the strong pulse -or does feeling that pulse make you anxious? And the answer is, "I dunno." That's always the answer. It really doesn't matter, because either way, one tends to support the other so you get the same result.
The good news is that if you can reduce either one, then the other will follow suit. Calm your pulse, anxiety goes down; calm anxiety, pulse calms down.
You've been through some pretty miserable stuff and are worried about your condition, so you've got plenty of stressors putting the pressure on.
As for your doc, the diagnosis may be right on the money, but it doesn't sound like he or she is doing much about it. You might, therefore, want to get a referral to someone who's a bit more attuned to the anxiety angle.
But for now, the symptoms you describe are not inconsistent with anxiety -so that gives you a strong "could be anxiety" diagnosis from a non-expert.
I've experienced ALL that especially the pulsating and tingling ..had Billion frickin tests..nada...all stress/anxiety....good luck
