do u feel anxiety over bad news?

does a death make u have anxiety! With in the last couple months a young guy was killed in a drinking and driving accident,now just today a guy 30 yrs old died.He was at  work and said he was not feeling well that he was having trouble breathing and bang he was dead three hours later,heart aneurysm.So in the last little while I lost two people my age.I find myself having a bit of  anxiety does anyone else get anxiety over bad news?

Hi there,

I think it is natural for you to feel anxiety over the death of these 2 people. They were young and it was the "suddenness" of their death and the fear that it could happen to you. One minute you are here and the next you are gone.

I personally hate this concept of dying suddenly, I fear strokes so I obsess over my blood pressure. Dying from cancer doesn't seem to bother me but dying suddenly, no theraphy has helped me overcome this fear.

I guess what JS Geare had mentioned earlier is that we should instead of focussing on the fear that we could die suddenly and try desperately try to prevent it from happening. Save all that energy and enjoy the moment we have as this could our last.

It is rare that youngsters are culled from the herd, as it were, for "natural" causes, so it is rare to know one or be exposed to one. And if your age approximates the victim's, then, naturally enough, you gotta think about it.

Same thing with airline disasters. For the ones awaiting their flight, it makes you think. It would be wrong to suppose that your chances are any greater or any less simply because you witnessed a statistically less probable event.  But it would be very right to remember that life is quite precious and should be so valued in the living of it -not the exit.

Sure. This has happened to me.

You have to learn that you can control it though. Watch your thoughts. Don't fight them. Watch them. Do they tend to be negative? OK. If so, try adding some positive reinforcement. When you aren't thinking negative, give yourself a pat on the back. Ironically, this may keep the positive thoughts flowing. The mind is a strange thing, indeed.

Remember you have control over your anxiety, if you simply allow negative thoughts to come and say not right now to them.
