having a hard time need help and opinions

So I got diagnosed maybe 8 months ago with borderline personality disorder which at the time made sense I guess in some ways . I met some criteria yet didn't meet many of the major criterias like I have never self harmed never attempted suicide . She diagnosed me only after a couple sessions. I used to be ok and accepting to the thought that I may have this disorder but now when I read about it , it sounds nothing like me. Yes, sometimes I have bad days some are better than others I think everyone has that however they are not to extremes. I do get depressed a lot but its more anxiety than anything that gets me depressed. So why such an extreme label on someone who you barely know enough about ? And even for people with bpd they take the label way too far I've read so much on people with bpd and they sound like some of the most loving people just have a really hard timecontrolling their emotions I don't see how that makes them or us have a personality disorder. They put such a stigma on this maybe some people have a harder time with the stigma and the judgement more than the disorder. It makes me sad and angry everyone is themselves no matter personality disorder anxiety depression we all still are completely different no matter how many of the criteria we match for one disorder , not to mention so many of these criterias are part of anxiety and depression so why does it have to go further then that? I'm not quite sure I believe in personality disorders anymore. No one can really be defined as anything but themselve and who they are. I don't know about any of u but just thinking I had bpd made me a little crazzier frustrated and hurt. Who's to say if its a personaity disorder those are just feelings can't I have those without being defined?

Sometimes doctors don't know what they are talking about, if  i were you i'd get a second, and possibly third opinion. If you get two dr.s to say it then i'd try to find someone who can help you deal with it appropriately. It is always good to have medical professionals who care and have a good bedside manner, one you can feel compfy with. It can be frustrating to have to do or deal with this, but wouldn't you do whatever you needed to for you to have a good, happy life, because you deserve it, we all do.  As far as research goes, do more but maybe not on BPD, on whatever your personal symptoms are.  I hope you get what you need, and i hope you know that your worth it, and are deserving. Please know that you are brave and a survivor of LIFE. Many goodluck wishes for you and you battle.

Thank you very much your opinions are all very inspiring I'm going to try to get those tested ! ASAP. "They tested my tsh level before and it was at 100" so no wonder why I was depressed and had anxiety right? Lol . Thank you for all having faith and being so nice and helpful. I won't let the labels define me . But before I even start to think anything like that I'm going to make sure everything else is ok. THANKYOU

Hi! You are completely correct in what you say, and I think the answer is that doctors are not always right! Actually, a lot of the time they are not right. A lot of doctors want to just shove medication down your throat, or label you with some conventional term that the world has come up with, to make it appear that they know and understand what is going on with people's minds. I have dealt with anxiety and depression for years now, and any doctor could say we have a personality disorder...but who doesn't? haha. Anyways, I honestly think that it could be your hormones out of whack, or just a chemical imbalance. Typically it is one of those two  that will be your answer =). I would suggest getting your hormones tested, and then your serotonin, dopa mine, levels if that's possible. Also, get your vitamin D and B12 levels checked--a lot of times them being low will cause depression and personality disorders. All of these disorders are just a deficiency or imbalance in chemicals or hormones. You will get better =). Don't listen to or be offended by what you doctor has said--they are in fact wrong. Stay strong, things will look up for you!!!
