similar experience?

I know is a question not related to anxiety, anyone can relate??
I have a uti and kidney pain that comes and goes. For 6months.  And I been in n out of the doctors office n taking antibiotics.  I finish 21 days of antibiotics.  And nothing help. I still have a infection.  And my kidneys hurt a lil bit. And it comes n goes. So my doctor doesn't want to deal with me so she referral me to a urologist.  And left me cold turkey now I have to wait until I get appointment to see a urologist.  Should I got to the e.r or just wait?? I really don't want to go to the hospital.  :( what should I do. I feel like I might have kidney stones but not sure.

Thank u for ur respond.. So I shouldn't put attention to my kidney pain. Until I have a chance to see a urologist?  Im just concerned.  Can a doctor know if I have kidney infection with a urine test? I don't have a fever or anything. I do get chills but not sure if is because anxiety and is cold on my side of town. But im just worried that I might have a kidney infection. Im just sooo confused.  Im lost. I don't know where im standing. And im going crazy. I dislike how doctors don't give mich information other than telling me I have a infection. Im very confused I want to run to the e.r.. but I don't like the whole waiting and spending all day there. It can takes week before I see a urologist.  :(

Hello there.  I agree that the next logical step would be a urologist.  I also agree with your doctor that prescribing more antibiotics in the meantime isn't the answer.

The urologist will be able to give you some more definitive answers.  IF it is indeed an infection that is hanging around (which isn't uncommon, sometimes it takes multiple courses of antibiotics to take care of the infection), then the urologist will likely do a urine culture so he can isolate the offending organism (bacteria) and find the right antibiotic to treat it.  That's what your doctor meant by "sensitive" in regards to an antibiotic.

When a culture is done, the results include a list of MANY antibiotics, and which ones will be the most effective (ie "sensitive") in getting rid of the infection.  The list will also include antibiotics that the bacteria are "resistant" to, meaning ones that won't work.

You'll get there, just try to hang in there and if anything new occurs, call your doctor.  You'll have a better idea of what to expect after you see the urologist.  Let us know what happens okay?

It's always stressful when we don't feel well, and also of course we worry about what is going on.  You're under the care of your doctor, and on the right path, so just try not to worry too much.

Thank u. Im trying to find herbal remedies. And yes I went to the doctors yesterday and they said I still have the infection after 21 days of antibiotics amoxill.  Im just scared. And she said they shouldn't do a culture for antibiotics resistance.  I didn't quite got what she ment for that. And she didn't want to prescribe me antibiotics because she said too much is bad for me. So she just referral me to a urologist.  So now I need to wait to make a appointment.  Im just very confused and worried. I don’t have symptoms of uti. I just have some pain on my kidbeys that come n go. Im starting to get depressed.  Last night I felt like I wad going to get a anxiety attack for thinking too much. :(

See the urologist -- this is what they specialize in.  Are you sure you still have an infection, did the doctor tell you that, or are you assuming that because you still have discomfort?  One factor to consider is that antibiotics might get rid of the infection but it will come right back as soon as you stop because the very organisms that protect you from infections in that area are killed off by the antibiotic as well.  While you wait for a urologist to diagnose you I'd go to the best health food store in the area and buy a good full spectrum probiotic from the refrigerated section of the supplement department.  There are also natural ways of trying to deal with this if it turns out to be just an infection and not kidney stones, so don't give up if antibiotics don't work for you.
