heart rate and panic attack

Hi all. I just wanted to get opinions. I was lying in bed last night and I felt like this butterfly feeling in my chest, like my heart skipped a beat or something, then I started immediately shaking, the uncontrollable shaking I get when I am really anxious. I felt a few more flutters and then my heart rate was really up there, it got up to about 136 and my chest hurt and i was freaking out. I ended up in the ER, they did and EKG and then monitored me for about 15 minutes and said my heart was fine. This morning, my heart rate is still high for rest, approx 90, which is high for me. I really feel like I had a heart attack last night and worry th at something is wrong with my heart. The Dr. said it sounded fine, he listened to it for  while and had me clench my fists and listenend. Why is my heart rate still up this am and I am short of breath too a little bit. Is it just my anxiety??

hello, i had an attack identical to your one seven weeks ago, i also thought it was heart attack at the time,my heart tests also proved normal and my doctor thinks it was a panic attack but i dont think it was, my heart skips everyday since which never happened before, i also have that butterfly/light feeling in my chest that stays with me constantly, and wont go away, it doesn't matter if im outside or just at home its always there(feels kinda like the inside of my chest being tickled with a feather) and it drives me nuts along with the skipped beats, something inside me feels different since that day and just wont my old life back.... very, very confused

It sounds just like I had in late Dec. for the first time except I had numbness in my arm and my heart felt like it was pounding out of my chest.  Mine was at night when I was sleeping and I too went to the er.  They did a ekg and a ct scan and all came back normal.  My heart rate was 102 when they finally checked it in the er and dr said for laying down reasting that was up.  Usually normal laying down rate is 70 for me.  Since I have been taking Xanax for 2 months I had not had any attacks but do have some pain on my side of my chest. (not very often )  Let me know how your doing

Is this your first attack?  I had my first in Dec 08 and thought I was having a heart attack also.  I have been to ER twice and urgent care once.  I am 34 and am in great shape so it freaked me out.  I have just now got it through my head I am not dieing (there for a while I thought I was).  My heart rate was up to over 150 beats.  I struggled for a while to get above it.  I did take Xanax for a little while and even tried celexa ( I hated both drugs).  I prayed alot to God and read Psalms often and I was able to overcome the fear and learn to ignore it.  My heart does skip sometimes (these episodes would happen to me day and night).  You are still probably anxious about the whole thing.  I would go to your family doctor and have him run further test to be on the safe side.  I know it scary.
I still struggle sometimes but you just can't let it get ahold of you.  I also went to a wellness doctor and started taking enzymes and found out my hormones were all out of whack.  So that may be something to try.

when my anxiety starts acting up, my heart rate always goes up, chest pains, trembling, and even my left arm hurts sometimes. it always seems to act up two weeks before my period. anxiety will make you feel all sort of symptoms. but it is just anxiety :-)
