hiv anxiety

over a couple of days back 2 weeks i had sex and was really scared that i might have contracted something..now i notice tiny blotches of blood inside of my palms...they are not rashes and i have had them before during season change but not for so long can this be due to anxiety..these red blotches go in the morning and come during evening and night..there is no rash on the body elsewhere..chest or back or neck...
please tell me the facts...if its not due to stress and anxiety or depression please tell me...

hmmmm.- I have no idea, what exactly it could be you mention on your hand, but i have something similar. on my thumb and a other finger.
(seams to get more visible when i wash the dishes. "getting hot water on it)-
Had it for a couple of weeks, and two things ive thought.
1.- I ´recently bought a new brand of soap, so thought it might be that.
2. Might be the weather. I usually sit in a cold room, and then i run hot water on when i wash the dishes.
Im thinking mine is one of those or simply due to minor stress lately. But mine seams to almost be gone now, and feel like its "healing" with a extra layer skin covering it,.

And about the lymph- A thing that have troubled me very much in the past. And still when they appear and get tender i get a minor panic attack,
But they can swell due to almost anything. If you get a large pimple on your neck it might effect it. If you have an infection (of any kind) it might effect it.
I got a swollen lymph on my neck 3 years ago. about 3 cm wide. And it freaked me out. Got to the doc, he checked it, and said he didnt think it was anything to worry about.
After a month it was still there. Not as sore, but still there. So go up again, he checks and we do a quick blood sample. All good.
Now 3 years after, its still there, just as big. And it will most likely be there forever.
It seams in most cases when they swell they dont always go back to normal size.
And by no means think im telling you all this with a high chin and saying "oh dont be so scared"- I have anxiety myself, so its no walk in the park for me. Ive just had them a million times.
Like last was a week ago.
Felt my (no idea what its called in english :S - Like where the leg is attached to the stomach? hah)- Well was sore as hell. I tried to feel it out. . .and yeah.- A swollen lymph.
So I waited a few days to see if it would pass. I didnt. (also i think in that place its worse cause of the way your body keeps pressing it.)-
In the mean time i got something that looked as a pimple on my. "ding ****"-.
So up to the doc we went. He took a look. And actually found out it was genital herpes. That kinda sucked. But great to know it wasnt anything lethal as cancer or something.
(btw all wondering - it was a minor herpes outbreak and almost gona).-
But that was reason enough for the lymph to react, and that i got kinda "flu" like symptoms for a couple of days.

All im saying is that lymph most of the cases is nothing at all. But every doc will advice you to get them checked if they stay longer than "X" amount of days.,
If you however have a strong idea what is causing it to get sore, you can stretch it a bit more.,

lymph are there to suck in whatever your body doesnt like and fight it.

You caught a cold, period.  You are over analyzing every sensation you feel, which again...is typical of anxiety.

You do not have HIV and until you seek some professional help to deal with the phobic thinking and anxiety, you will continue to torture yourself about a non-existent worry.

Because the CDC takes a conservative stance on risk factors due to liability.  Same with their outdated standards on the 3 month window period.  The tests today are far more accurate, allowing for detection much sooner than that, but again, for liability reasons, it hasn't been changed.

IF oral sex was truly a risk, there would be new cases all the time, and there are not.  The 3 docs on Medhelp post about this all the time...NONE of them in their combined DECADES of experience being EXPERTS working with HIV have ever SEEN, HEARD, or READ ABOUT a case of HIV being transmitted via oral sex.  Search those forums and read their answers about this.

If you need proof, just wait to be tested, there isn't any other way we can convince you.  Once you get your NEG result, believe it, and allow yourself to put this behind you!!

If the person receiving oral sex has HIV, their blood, semen (***), pre-seminal fluid (pre-***), or vaginal fluid may contain the virus. CELLS LINING THE MOUTH OF THE PERSON PERFORMING CUNNILINGUS MAY ALLOW HIV TO ENTER THE BODY..

The risk of HIV transmission increases:

if the person performing oral sex has cuts or sores around or in their mouth or throat;
if the person receiving oral sex ejaculates in the mouth of the person performing oral sex; or
if the person receiving oral sex has another sexually transmitted disease (STD).

Hi,

Well get your negative test at 6-12 week period and put your mind at rest. Though HIV is considered risk free for cunnilingus there are other STDs that you may have been exposed to.
But if no other symptoms, better to set these blotches to season and anxiety...

Again....this is anxiety talking.  You did NOT get HIV from the exposure you described.  A result of a study here in the US where people went to the ER with complaints of "symptoms" they were convinced was HIV....was that over 99% of those patients tested NEG despite a wide range of "symptoms".  Even if you HAD a risk (which you didn't)...one can NEVER guage a risk or possibility of infection based on symptoms...they are non-specific and vary too greatly, with a LOT of newly infected people never having one symptom at all.

It really is time for you to seek some help with the anxiety.  The sooner the better, as something like this can really spiral out of control...it will be easier to overcome if you start accepting your anxiety and working to reduce it.

Once more...you did NOT get HIV from your situation.  You can be tested for peace of mind, but you don't NEED a test based on this risk.  It will be negative.

Whatever it is, it isn't due to HIV.  It could be a number of things, one being anxiety.

Try hard not to focus your thinking on HIV and if your anxiety subsides and the symptoms do also, you pretty much have your answer.

You may want to consider getting some professional help if the anxiety and worry doesn't improve on its own.

You had NO risk for HIV....there is a LOT of misinformation out there on the internet, so it would be wise NOT to search the web.

Go to the HIV Doc forum here and search old threads related to your concern...there are thousands of them.  Reading the doctors' replies will help to put your mind at ease.  They are experts in HIV and have worked in the field for decades...they know what constitutes a risk and what doesn't.  Sometimes it helps reassure a person seeing the info coming from a doctor...even though lydia and I are also very knowledgeable in this field. :0)

The risks for HIV are...
1. Unprotected vaginal or anal sex
2. Sharing IV drug works
3. Mother to infant

Anything else may present a risk for other STD's, which if you're sexually active, it doesn't hurt to have an yearly checkup with the standard STD tests...but your sexual encounter did NOT place you at risk for HIV!

You really did not have a risk but to feel better go and see your doctor, have him check out your neck(chances are good that its ok or even the angle you had your head or neck at the time) and get tested if you are worried. But I really dont think you need to be. Since you are so fearful of the disease make sure you take extra precautions when you engage in sexual activity

you say that oral sex is safe sex but on the net it says it is not necessarily safe sex..infection can happen if infected vaginal fluids get into the mouth of a person and mouth is a mucous layer...
there was no ejaculation in my mouth neither i had any cuts or sores but still i am worried as i have noticed a slight curvature in the right side of my neck..are swollen lymph nodes noticeable or do i have to check by feeling them...

YOU HAD NO RISK!

HIV cannot be spread by oral sex.

And before you ask all the "what if" questions about bleeding gums or teeth or sores in the mouth or on the tongue or cut lips or vaginal fluid or precum or ANYTHING...........oral sex is safe sex.

Spitting on your penis before putting on the condom is an added measure of safety since saliva virtually kills the virus on contact, which is one of the reasons oral sex is safe. That, and the FACT that the virus can only be passed on INSIDE the body. It cannot survive outside it's host.

Once again, you had no risk.

I would like to suggest that you get yourself educated about HIV and then share that with your friends, male and female. In this day and age, with all the information that is available, there is no reason anybody who can read should not be absolutely clear about what safe sex is............and isn't.

Sorry, don't mean to come across like a voyeur, but I will need a bit more information regarding your sexual encounter before I can give you an answer. Did you use a condom which didn't break? Did you engage in oral only?
Peace
