i need help

i have believe i have issues with mental health, i have been on the hiv prevention forum for hiv anxiety as i had a potential low risk exposure 4 weeks ago, but this is part of a bigger problem, because since i can remember i have always had something to worry about, and suffer from low self esteem, mood swings, mild drug abuse (cocaine on the weekends), loosing my temper, bad paranoia, i don't know where to turn anymore i live in the uk so we have the nhs but mental health seems like a difficult issue to address with a doctor, are there any courses of action i can take to help me with my issues?

Psychiatrists aren't allowed to tell anyone what you say in therapy.  Or a psychologist, which is better than just starting with medication.  On thing I agree on with Silverberg, if you're suffering from anxiety, drugs usually push you inwards and make you focus more on your anxious thoughts.  That's why no marijuana, coke, or even alcohol for many.  It's a bummer, but just the truth when you suffer from anxiety.  As for it being illegal, a lot of things are illegal that shouldn't be.  Our nation wasn't founded by a bunch of sheep.  But in your case, I'd say you need to drop the drugs and get your life as healthy as possible.

ok ok, thaanks for the responses, i ve been doing coke ONLY on the weekends for about 2 years and also going out drinking, i was smoking cannabis previuosly which i replaced with coke, i am probably using it to fill a void in my life, but the general anxiety and constant worry about anything i can find to worry about, i think is not drug related but more personality related, thats why i m unsure how to tackle this issue, as i don't want to go to the doctor because i don't want them to record anything ie having a mental illness etc please help

Sorry, but I have been around here awhile and for Paxiled.. your statement ONCE THE DRUG OF CHOICE FOR DEPRESSION. KEY WORD 'ONCE'.
Sorry people, I have worked in this field long enough, people that do drugs NEED TO BE TOLD STRAIGHT, if you look back at any of my other thousands of post, you will see, I am always there for anyone DAY OR NIGHT, CAN YOU BOTH MAKE THAT CLAIM? SO B4 YOU JUDGE, THINK!!!

people on DRUGS!! >>>> here's the key word here>>>  >>> I - L -L - E - G -E - L.<<<<

GET NO  (ZERO) tolorance from ME. I would suggest you both read some of the thousands of post from young and old, men and women who are SUFFERING , and have no clue why! THIS PERSON ABOVE IS ADMITTING HE USES ILLIGAL DRUGS, I AM SAYING TO HIM, YES GET HELP, BUT STOP THE DRUGS!!!

Don't tell me you want help, but are going to keep doing drugs and COKE, come on, you want to talk about coke, EDUCATE YOURSELF, coke is NOT GOOD FOR DEPRESSION OR ANXIETY OR PANIC, IN anyway shape or form... have a nice day.

Hey, Silverberg, did you know cocaine was once the drug of choice for depression and anxiety since it has an affinity for all three major messengers, serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine?  The problem is, it turned out to be addictive, which of course all the drugs people take on this forum are, but truly addictive in the sense you keep needing more of it to work.  So while you're right, this guy shouldn't be self-medicating, we've all made mistakes.  I'll bet you've made a few.  Doing coke a couple times a week doesn't necessarily cause depression or anxiety, although it can, but then so can Paxil or Zoloft or Wellbutrin.  You're judging this guy without knowing much about him except one post, and acting as if you know the coke has caused his problems.  Not likely.  More likely he turned to the coke because of his problems.

Mushkin, you do need to find a therapist.  A psychologist would probably be better to start then a doctor or psychiatrist; hold that in reserve.  And don't feel bad about having a problem, we all have problems.  The whole human race is a problem.

Wow, silverberg I think you would have been better off just not posting at all. This is a forum to help people, not to vent your own person frustration with drug users. Please, for the sake of those who are actually here to try and help, in the future just save us all the reading time and just don't post; thank you. Mushkin, it sounds like you do in fact need a lifestyle change. I am in no way trying to judge you, but being as you find the need to use drugs, and more than likely have unprotected sex, tells me you don't have very much respect for yourself. Either this is stemming from simply a low self-esteem or feeling of self-worth; or something that actually is a medical problem. I myself suffer from ADD and acute anxiety, as well as a few other things, and for a long period of my life I didn't know. When I should have been on prescribed medication, I instead was self medicating with cannabis, and opiates. Now that I look back I believe the cannabis was easing the intensity of the ADD, and the opiates were counter-acting the acute anxiety. Ironically enough when I stopped the self medication was when I had my first real panic attack that sent me to the ER. I then began taking meds prescribed by a doctor and my life became much better, and more productive. I am in NO WAY advocating self medication I am just saying that maybe you are using the drugs to fill a void caused by something else. Either way that needs to stop because if in fact you do have some sort of anxiety or depression disorder you are doing nothing but making it worse with the drugs in the long run. "On the weekend' will soon become a few times a week, once a day, and before you know it you'll have a MUCH bigger problem then a bout of depression. I was like you in that I didn't want to talk to doctors about what I was thinking. Believe me though, it WILL help. You need to find a doctor that you trust, and you feel comfortable talking with; then just open up, be specific... about the way you feel, the drugs, everything. Believe me, when doctors actually want to help, and they can. If you open up to one and feel like he or she is treating you any differently due to some choices you've made then simply tell them to **** off and go find another doctor. They are being payed to help you, remember that. It isn't a privilege to receive the help you need it is a right; and it's one that you seem to need to exercise immediately. There are way too many anxiety and depression disorders to even try and diagnose you with the vague information you have given. You need to sit down with someone and get an expert opinion.

Dude, not to sound cold, but read your post, What do you think? I am willing to help anyone, I would say work on the issues you write about, see a Dr.

BUT, yes here comes the BUT , do not waste my time or anyone elses, by saying your doing COKE! dude there are people here that need help! you do coke! no brainer here, STOP THE COKE, you may be surprised at all the change. and if for any reason in your mind, you start to even think for a second that it's not the "COKE",,,read what you yourself write>>  1) you say it yourself "mild drug ABUSE" and 2) only on weekends???

sorry maybe someone on here will have sympathy for you, but I am ZERO tolerance and If anyone reading this, thinks I am being mean and cold, so be it.

My point of view is there are many many people who have never used drugs who have Anxiety/Panic Attacks and have no clue why, but you SIR DO!
