im on atavins how to change overnight to xanax?

i was on xanax 5 weeks ago for 5 yrs..my shrink said try atavans  a month..well i dont like them they make me tired but i cant sleep on them...my questshion is how do i stop the atavains the last dose at 11pm..and start taking the xanax at 5am??  im on 4 mgs of atavins and 4 mgs of xanax  aday

explain how i do the switch without any problems....i know when i was put on ativan i stoped the xanax at 1145pm then thew next day  started taking ativan                     thanks

I big fan of Antivan <<<(hey that rhymed) anyway Antivan does not last long and  its highly addicted. When I was hospitalized the dr practically begged me to try Celexa and Klonopin...I tried it against my own good judgment and I was so irritable,nauseated and short of breath. It made me feel awful and I told the dr I wasn't going to take anymore. The Antivan works for me but it doesn't help the depression. Any suggestions?

You should probably have been weened off the xanax.  4 mg a day seems a bit high.
You may also need to take the ativan awhile before you get the full effect.  It may be too much without first coming off the xanax.  Why did your doc switch you?
You may find a good antidepressant far more effective for the anxiety then a tranq alone.
