Agree with the above two posters. Don't take medication issues into your own hands. Work with your doctor to go on a slow taper. I was on Klonopin for a while, and chose to come off of it. I went and talked with my doctor and she put me on a taper and I had some withdrawals, which I knew I would, but I went back and talked to her again and she slowed it down which helped tremendously for me. Benzos can be very hard to come off of. I am glad I was on Klonopin because it did what it was designed to do. But, just don't do this on your own. It is much more trouble than it is worth and it can be down right dangerous, but working with your doctor you can taper off of it if you choose to do that...keep us posted!
Cannot agree more with the above poster! You absolutely must NOT attempt to withdraw from Klonopin on your own, especially after you've been on it for 5 years.
See the doctor who has been prescribing this med for you and discuss a taper program with him/her. It is the ONLY safe way to get off a benzo.
Please heed this advice.

Talk to your doctor please....
