Are these normal anxiety symptoms?

Sometimes when I have high anxiety or panic the front of my face will feel tight and my legs will feel heavy or numb.

I feel ya! I know, I hate going to my Dr every time I feel somethings not right, or calling him... its so embarrassing sometimes. But my Dr is awesome.

I know the feeling of "but what if its NOT anxiety?"... "how can all of this be anxiety?"

I think that causes my symptoms to worsen sometimes. B/c my Dr. usually won't do any more tests on me than a few blood tests, and maybe an xray if i really feel i want one. lol.

He wont' do brain MRI's or nothing like that. He said that if he let me do an MRI etc. everytime I had a symptom, then my body would be fried from radiation. lol. Kind of true... and he said getting a test done every time too would be giving into my anxiety.

Hang in there. I know this will leave soon. It always does... til the next time. ;)

Hey cnote,

You pretty much described everything I have been going through over the last almost 4 months now.  It has been a living nightmare but I am pushing through.  For me at times it has been hard to accept that all this can be caused by anxiety but I have been to numerous docs and specialists and so far...ANXIETY.  I have faith that I will get through this and be better for it.  If our mind can be so powerful in this negative manner, who says we cant make it powerful in a positive way?

God Bless You All

Answer: YES. All common symptoms of anxiety.

Anxiety can do SO many things to us physically. It's amazing. Not everyones symptoms are the same, and they can change. I thought I experienced EVERY symptom of anxiety... but just 2 months ago, evil anxiety proved me wrong. lol.

Here are the symptoms I have had before... this may help you deal with your anxiety. Because KNOWING that anxiety can cause these physical symptoms REALLY helped me quit worrying about it, and just dealing with it til it will eventually leave.

My symptoms have included the following: (either all at the same time, or separate)

Nervous stomach (bad butterflies in stomach for no reason)
Shakiness in legs and arms
Weakness in Legs/Arms (when walking down stairs, feels like knees wanna give out)
Numbness feeling all over
Tingling
Tight Throat
Increased Gag Reflex (this stunk! went on for over a month, id gag for no reason)
Digestion issues (Practically had diarrhea for 3 months straight, Embarrassing!)
Shooting pains in the head, around ears and temples
Tension headaches
Constant Pacing (cant relax or sit)
Can't sleep at night
Night sweats
Nightmares/or vivid dreams that make you wake up wore out.
Brain Shivers (feels like a jolt of electricity or a vibrator is being held against your brain for a few seconds)
Muscle Pulse Sensation (feels like my whole body/muscles are pulsating with my heart? hard to explain)
Crying Spells
Irrational Thoughts Fears about Health and Cancer/Illnesses and Mind Chatter
Obsessing about getting better

The good news now is, I only suffer from a handful of those symptoms now... and I know they are anxiety, so I just deal with it better.

However, my latest symptom that I've been dealing with now for a little over 2 months now is muscle tightness in my neck and low back. The low back has quit hurting, but my neck still hurts sometimes and get's stiff deep in the bone. And I started having muscle twitching all over my body almost non stop, but that has gotten better too...

So, in a nutshell.... Anxiety can do some strange and scary things... but it's only anxiety... and there are tons of natural things you can do to help it, exercise is the best thing for me! and a little Ativan here and there for bad days.

Hang in there! You'll get through it. If it makes you feel better, go see a Dr. and he'll give you a clean bill of health. =)

Take care!

I have never experienced anxiety or panic attack that affected my face but I recently just read through symptoms of anxiety and it was a huge list and that was one of the symptoms. I recently have felt as though my legs are heavy. Not everyone experiences the same symptoms.
