its 6 weeks i have been on zoloft.the doc said give it another 2 weeks , i made the mistake of going up in the dose , i think i should have gone down as the 100mg they put me on after the fist week is probably to high. an screwing with me
Hi, I too take Zoloft for my anxiety. I take 25mg and was supposed to work up to 50mg but never have, last year the 25 worked great and I just started again this year, it's been about 3 weeks (the winters here are tough!!). One thing I know about Zoloft is for many it's an "upper" and can, especially in the beginning, make you more anxious and adgitated. I can see why you doctor told you to wait 2 weeks because for me the first two-three weeks were hard and it takes at least that long to start helping. The thing that doesn't sound good is to keep upping your dose when you are have nasty side effects?
I agree with the others don't keep swithching your doses around on your own, it can really mess ya up. Maybe you should consult with another Doctor (I know sometimes it's not that easy) but upping your dose may make you feel worse - at least I know it would have for me in the beginning.
For me 25mg has worked good, but I am using it for anxiety alone. If that's what you need it for both of my doctors said 25-50mg is the usual dose - though I know it is different for everyone.
It sounds like you are really struggling - I feel for you!! Anxiety is such a horrible feeling but you can and you will get through it. Take care
i rang the shrink a week ago an told him i was having problems , he said stay on the 100, till i see you in 2 weeks,to say i have no convidence is a under statment. it was me who told him about zoloft , an its rateing,s in the a.d stakes 2 top the top most chance to work.in the medical jornal, he just looks in a book an takes a shot ,
I agree with MrGreen here. Do NOT adjust dosage on your own. Playing with this can cause many more problems than it is worth. Go talk to your doctor and explain what is going on. Continue to take a proactive roll in this; sometimes finding the right dosage/medication is a little bit of trial and error in my opinion...keep us posted!
I suggest you talk to your doctor ASAP and maybe he / she might change what you are on. It might just not be working for you. It would be wrong of anybody to suggest what is right and wrong, as far as tablets and amounts go. Nobody here is a doctor. But as you are having problems with the medication your own doctor is the right person to consult.
