Hey! Knots from stress are very common in the neck area and lymph nodes do become inflammed when we are under stress. Our immune systems do wear down and our lymph system is in place to help fight infection...when we are exhausted from anxiety and stress we can certainly begin to get infections from colds, etc. Lymph nodes are usually painful and move easily when they are infected. I actually have a node that I had checked out by a surgeon 17 years ago. It is at the base of my skull where my neck begins behind my right ear. I still feel it at times, but not all of the time. I have not been to the dr. in 4 months!! WOOHOO-he's probably missing me and wanting me to come in so I can pay for that pool he put in from me coming in every month for the past 15 years LOL...I have had two sinus infections and a pretty tough winter without going (and plenty of panic and heart palps), but I have not been and I am still here...I really understand how anxiety and panic can take over your life. Unfortunately, I have not been able to find a therapist that is worth the $200 an hour, but I'm sure there are good ones out there. Keep posting here. The majority of the people who comment are very helpful and understanding. If the dr. hasn't checked the knot out yet, you may want to run by and have him take a quick look...
I havent went to a doctor yet for that.i just noticed it this week after i got a massage.I was just at my docs last week for headaches neck pain and dizziness he did a cordination test on me and checked behind my eyes and made me swallow stuff like that said it shows no sighn of a tumor or anything like that but again that was for my headaches. He did tell me i was very tense that i needed a massage and to use a heating pad i also got a referal to a therepist for my anxiety.went on wed and i like her alot.my insurance pays for 4 visits gonna try.Do u still think i need to go to doc for the knot its small and right were she massaged my muscles?
If it feels like a lump in your throat when you swallow then yes I have experienced this. I even went to a nose, throat, and ear specialist. I went through a test where they take x-ray pictures while you drink something. Not a bad test, and as expected it showed nothing. What ended up being was where I had a spasm in my throat muscle. As I understand this is a common symptom with anxiety, but as mammo mentioned you should get it checked out. Plus if you are a hypochondiac like me it is only going to make your anxiety worse, because you will become focused on this and thinking the worse.
Any unusual lumps/bumps should be checked out by your doctor, but a lot depends on exaatly where the knot is. Can you be more specific? Thanks.
please anyone i dont want this to get lost in the shuffle im really worried..thanks
Most importantly, what have you done to addresss your obviously pretty severe anxiety and health phobias? If you haven't already, I would suggest asking for a referral to a psychiatrist to see what kinds of treatment options would be right for you. While your doctor is there to assess you when you're ill or to do a yearly physical, if you are constantly running back and forth to the doctor, it indicates that your irrational thoughts about your health are becoming all consuming and IMO, it is time to start focusing on anxiety treatment so that you don't continue to worry about your health needlessly.
Good luck....keep us updated.
