lexapro

went to see my doc for my medicine check up to c how i was doing. told him about the brain fog not being able to focus etc. i asked if it was the lexapro and he said he doubted it. but didnt say anything about what might be causing it. he knew i was taking only 5 mg of the lexapro ans asked if i thought i could go up to the 10. i told him i would give it a shot. but i want to know what it is giving me the brain fog??? it is sooooo hard to focus, to stay in a conversation, to remember anything!! its frustrating. it makes me anxiuos etc. so does anyone think that the fog is from derealization/depersonalization? or the lexapro? from taking xanax?? (i take .5 mg as needed)

Could be side effects. Could be anxiety.  Did you have brain fog before this med?

I have started to increase from the 5 mg. I have been doin 7.5 mg for about a week. I am very sensitive to any amount of changes in my medicine. I haven't had elevated anxiety or depression going up that little bit but the brain fogginess is still here as well as not being able to concentrate. I am also still being forgetful. the more I think on it and pray on it I don't believe the Lexapro is for me

How long have you been on the Lexapro?  5mg isn't really a therapeutic dose for most people, but side effects come before effects.  So you have two choices:  go up to see if it works for you and the side effects pass or, depending on how long you've been on it, decide this drug isn't for you and taper off it.

I feel it has gotten worse since i have been on these drugs. i mean i have always been sorta forgetful but in no way to the same degree as i am now. i am stuck wondering if it is the drugs or if it is me only focusing on the anxiety/depression and not really realizing it.

This is the question:  were you like this before you started taking Lexapro, or only since you've been taking it?  This is very sad but true, doctors are often the last to know what the downside of what they do really is.

I felt that way on lexapro and the blah feeling, that is why I needed to go off it.
