Barbara,

I have "yellow" eyes due to thalassemia minor (a chronic anemia) could you also be anemic because you are not getting enough iron?  You should ask your doctor for your blood report and check your hemoglobin, and billirubin and all those other things RCA suggested.  If the hemoglobin is low and billirubin is high, you should see a hemotologist just so he can help you figure out a diet to put your blood back to normal.

Also, I understand your aversion to taking an SSRI.  Give the Klonopin a chance and if you still feel out of sorts I suggest taking an SSRI.  If it will help you feel like yourself again, it is worth it.  I find the side effects are nothing compared to the feelings of stress and anxiety...Just food for thought.

Klonopin is safe if taken properly. I was on Zoloft for 2 years and weaned myself off it in about a month- just kept on taking smaller doses- it was really easy. It's about a year later and I have anxiety again, but I've been thinking about going on it again. There is slight sex and weight effects- but these side effects are mild when dealing with the effects of anxiety.Well, the Zoloft would help you eat anyway. I gained about 10 pounds a year, but I've already lost it.

This is NOT normal - have you discussed this with a doctor?  This is something that warrants medical investigation and you need to do this ASAP if this symptom continues.

Barbara, I have been suffering with anxiety for the past 2 months, so I can sympathize with your situation.  I too do not want to take a pill such as Celexa, Zolof, etc. (SSRI's) -- because of the side effects and the weaning off.  What has helped me is talk therapy with my therapist and the occasional Klonopin at night (mornings were bad for me -- I would wake up in a pain attack) -- so the Klonopin has helped with that some.  I also have Ativan for the "all of a sudden" anxiety attack -- but rarely take that.  However, just recently I lost a very special pet and it seems my anxiety is back to where it was before.  But I still believe the talk therapy has helped alot -- so try to find a good therapist/counselor.  Take care.
