Psychosis isn't brought on by stress; episodes of psychosis are. Best way to tell about the side effects of a drug are to google it. If it's really psychosis and not just a very stressful time, it lasts forever -- as far as I know, there's no known cure to true psychosis, just controlling the symptoms. But that doesn't mean the diagnosis is correct, also doesn't mean it isn't. Anxiety and depression and such aren't psychoses; bi-polar disease, multiple personalities and such are. Very different animal.
I feel my son has paranoia. What is the difference between paranoia and psychosis? This is all new to me and very scary. I feel helpless as he doesnot trust me. He is scared no terrified of everyone and thinks we are all conspiring to get him locked up.
Thank you, any adice is welcome.
The more you add, the more it does sound serious. He's already hospitalized, let the doctors try and get him stabilized. If it turns out to be psychosis and not just extreme anxiety, and paranoia is part of psychosis, expect it not to go away ever, but it can be controlled. Be supportive and not judgmental, realize it isn't personal, he's sick, and stick by him. It will be hard, but more for him than for you, just remember that. This is sad, and I feel for you, and all the best.
