Xanax and anger

Sunday will be 6 weeks clean from xanax....cold turkey.  The past 2 days I have been struggling with anger, foggy head and confusion.  Right now I am pissed at the world and the smallest thing sends me into orbit.  I know these are typical w/d symptoms for the first few weeks but can this still be a problem this far into detox?  I was taking anywhere from .25 to .5mgs per day for a little over a year.

What do ya think?

Hi,

Yes! absolutly you have withdrawal symptoms. It's not just a matter of getting the drug out of your system. You brain needs to get used to no more benzo's. There are sites that are specifically about benzo withdrawals. Many people with there have been on therapatic doses and talk about their symptoms. I'll pm you with the address. You will feel reassured that it will pass.

I'm sure you know that you should NEVER quite Xanax cold turkey, no matter the dosage or how long you were on it. (My "scolding" is over)
Have these symptoms just appeared in the past two days? What have the past 6 weeks been like?
I'm afraid I don't have an answer for you on this one. It would be my humble, non-medical opinion that by now you SHOULD be over the w/d, but benzos can be tricky. Even though Xanax has a very short half-life (4-6) hours before it is completely out of your system, I am not qualified to tell you if there may be some sort of "rebound/residual" effect going on. I would strongly urge you to call your doctor or a pharmacist for a truly qualified answer.
Let us know what you find out, OK? There are many that would be interested.
Best of luck to you.
Peace
