Thanks so much for the comments. Like I said, I have had this forever it seems like, but the past couple of weeks the ringing is so loud and it makes me get nervous and then the panicky feelings start. It could very well have to do with me chewing on things ALL of the time! It's a nervous habit that I wish I could break, but I put a lot of pressure on my jaw and I chew so.......
Boy, I wish I wasn't so sensitive to my bodys quirks...it can drive you nuts!
I also have anxiety, don't know exactly how long I have had it but it has been a long time. As for the ringing in my ears that has been there for about seven or eight years, no doctor hs been able to tell me what it is from, they say damage from noise. My ringing seems to get worse when my anxiety is high or when I am tiered. I like the house quite when the ringing is low, but when the ringing get loud I always leave on the radio or TV to distract me, or else it would probably drive me insane. I have seen things advertised on the internet that claim to cure tinnitis, but I am affraid to waste my money on them, I figure if there were such a cure wouldn't the doctors have told me? anyway don't feel alone in this life, we are all in it together.
I've had ringing in my left ear constantly since October 2007. Went to the neurologist and he did some hearing tests and it was normal and since I had a MRI not long ago, he didn't think it was due to any brain tumor. From what I understand with myself I think it is to do with my neck and jaw muscles being out of alignment and super tight on the left side and this is putting extra pressure and that is why the ringing is constant. The ringing changes in intensity but is constant. In fact I got it after doing some neck exercises a physio told me to do and then 2 weeks later , I turned to my left and the ringing started. An ENT guy told me not to worry too much and that anxiety can often cause ringing in the ear too. I understand how you feel, the ringing still bothers me as I feel the doctors could be wrong and maybe it is not anxiety and that it could be more sinister. But I really think many of my symptoms of anxiety like dizziness, muscle imbalances, balance problems, jaw clenching, breathlessness is caused by a loss of lordosis in my neck. Although this is reported by the radiographer as normal,, I've read that a slight loss of lordosis in the neck due to the common forward head posture can bring about many troubling symptoms. I know this to be true in my case as I didn't have so many troubling symptoms until after loss of lordosis finding. When I stand up, I notice that my spine has lost some of the normal curves and my left side is shorter than the right side due to muscle imbalances. How does one correct it, well I am still searching but my gut feeling is that it is postural especially the way one sits and sleeps.
Sorry to carry on like this but I hope some of the information will be of help to you and if anyone else has similar experiences and some success please post a comment.
Thanks.
I think ringing ears very possibly has something to do with anxiety as I have been experiencing it on and off for years. Mind you, my husband has it too and he doesn't have an anxiety disorder. It could very well have something to do with air pressure, also...but I think we (people with anxiety) are more inclined to have it because we are very sensitive to everything.
