Please help!!

I am a 31 year old female and or years I have suffered from really bad anxiety. I am wondering if a person is able to make their mind play tricks on them in thinking that something is wrong with them. I have felt weak on one side of my body and I do not know why, I thought I was having a stroke so I went to theDrs ofice and they said I my exam was good but I kept feeling weird so I went to the  er and they did some basic testing and told me I had a perfectly normal exam. Meaning I could move everything fine and they had no reason to think that was what it was. But no one did any testing like an MRI or cat scan. This started about 5 days ago. the symptoms have stayed the same. Could my mind be playing tricks on me!! I do think about it alot. Its basiclly all I can think about and I do  not know what to do. Please help..

If it makes you feel better to see someone else and further your exams, so be it. If it makes you feel better.

But you already had 2 medical professionals tell you there was no sign or reason to be concerned about what you are feeling.

Did any of them say it is probably anxiety?

You have to learn to trust your Dr., if you don't then find another one. But remember, they are trained to know WHAT to look for and WHAT symptoms you are having. If they have no reason to believe anything is wrong, then you should try and not think about it as much.

But I know with anxiety, it can be HARD to do, which can intensify the symptoms.

If you are having anxiety, YES anxiety can make your body feel and do weird things. Things that are uncomfortable.. and eerie, which causes us to constantly fear and think about these feelings over and over and over, until its all we can think about, and anxiety has taken control.

The good news is, you can gain control again. :) Whether that be you just need a little more reassurance from an MRI... so be it. And if you get a clean bill of health after that, and you are still feeling those symptoms, your Dr. will then probably talk to you about anti-anxiety medications, or therapy...

We all cope with anxiety in different ways. Not everyone is the same. I hate taking pills, but I have to take a pill every now and then. That's one way I cope. While I'm on this pill, the symptoms go away, but then I try to find something else to take away the real problem, the anxiety itself. I try to do something I enjoy, and get my mind off things... I go to the gym... sit in a hot tub... I try to talk to my wife about things etc. etc. Everyone copes differently.

From what you have posted, my conclusion, and I'm not a Dr., but! It sounds to me like you have a clean bill of health. :)

If they had any concern they would have done an MRI on you honey. :) But again, if it MAKES YOU FEEL BETTER, get one. :)

My Dr. won't let me have MRI's and XRAY's... lol. You know why? B/c he said, if he let me have MRI's and XRAY's I'd be getting one every month. lol.

That's not good for you. haha. He's right though. That would be me LETTING MY ANXIETY take CONTROL... and saying "Chris, get an MRI! Get an XRAY!" But you have to think RATIONALLY. Like... "Chris, your Dr. said he doesnt think you need an MRI or an XRAY b/c he is a professional, and if he thought for any reason you needed one, he would order one, but he didnt. So there." :)

Hang in there. Everything will be okay!!! :)

Anxiety can and does cause these types of symptoms, but I would want an MRI to be on the safe side, and to be able to stop worrying about this!  See a Neurologist and go from there!  It's always best to rule out all other causes before assuming it's anxiety, and I don't think you will be able to stop worrying until you know for sure that all is well.  Then it's imperative that once the tests are done and they say you are fine, that you accept this.  If you don't, you will get caught up in a vicious cycle of worrying and anxiety, which you don't want.  If it is anxiety then address this with a psychiatrist so the two of you can determine the best course of treatment for you, therapy and/or medication.  The more you dwell on this, the worse it will be, and your mind can play tricks on you.  I think getting tested will help ease your anxiety where this is concerned.  Keep us posted, we're always here for you.  Take care!
