Help with my anxiety that is caused by fear of choking and mucus buildup.

I've always had anxiety about not being able to breathe or choking in general. Mainly I thought it was because of my enlarged tonsils, they were touching each other. Due to this sensation it caused me to always carry water around with me. After that I had a few panic attacks about it, it doesn't help that I have asthma. I recently had my tonsils removed and I thought all of my troubles would go away but that wasn't the case. Now I feel that I always have mucus in my throat and it is almost like I can not swallow for a few seconds which causes me great stress. Literally all I think about is my throat and I just want to get my life back and not have to worry about any of this. I'm sick of thinking that I am going to die and not being able to drive anywhere. Because of this I no longer travel or go places really. Could someone please lend me some advice/help. Thank you.

Assuming you "feel" you have mucus when you don't, this is just anxiety.  Are you in therapy?

Perhaps clinical hypnotism which is used to remove fear of flying and other things would work.
