Personally wouldn't try Effexor, but it works for many. After bad experiences with Paxil, I'm not going anywhere near Effexor. Also, if your main problem is anxiety and you don't have significant depression, I'm not sure Effexor would be right for you, since it targets norepinephrine receptors as well as serotonin. Unfortunately, the only way to learn what works is to try it.
thanks for the advice. i am seeing my doctor this thursday. hopefully they can come up with a solution. these physical symptoms are driving me crazy. have any of you tried effexor
Both are addictive, as are all benzos. Valium is shorter acting, but kicks in faster. Klonopin kicks in more slowly, but lasts longer in the body. Which one will help more is unknown, since you are not us. But it does seem to be true that klonopin can be used longer without increasing the dosage, whereas valium wears off in effectiveness eventually and you'll need to increase dosages or switch. But that's a generalization. My own experience is that valium makes one more tired, and neither is a cure. With meds, there is no best, there's what works best for the individual. All meds can be dangerous, and all can be perfectly benign, depending on the person. But anxiety is a pain, and if you can't do therapy without the help of medication, then go for it. If you can do therapy without medication, you can try that. But either way, talk therapy will be needed. Good luck.
Valium is by far more addictive and tends to cause one to appear and sometimes act sluggish.
Klonopin on the other hand if taken at lower dose levels doesn't present any major side effects.
I know there is a difference in the shelf life of the two so maybe someone with this info will come on and explain all that.
In my humble opinon I perfer the klonopin because I don't care for meds that I can actually feel alter my feelings.
I take 0.05mg.3xdaily. Keeps things managable for me..................good luck
