what will happen?

I've reduced my klonopin to 1mg daily for about 4 days now.  What will happen if I just stop taking it altogether?  How long will it take to get out of my system?  I have to take a drug screen soon and don't want this to show up in drug screen.  Thanks in advance for any suggestions !

Well Pax, you've caught me screwing up yet again! Pilots, naturally, I hope would be drug tested. Don't want my captain flying on anything other than the same plane as me! And I'm quite sure there are many more jobs out there that require a totally clean slate. Air traffic controllers just came to mind. Surgeons. Police people who carry big guns. Don't want any of THEM drifting off into la-la land.............
Guess I just assumed (not a good thing to do) that this poster was just an average Joe or Joette.

Depending on what you need the screening for, it may not be an issue.  I was drug tested for my job twice (once when I started as a temp, second when I was hired) my prescription medication (Paxil CR, Klonopin, Ambien and assorted cholestorel medication) were not reported from the screening.  With the exception of some pain killers (usually opiates) these do not show up in a routine drug screening.  I am not sure (as Paxiled mentioned) jobs that require quick reaction time, as Klonopin will slow these down.

Hope this helps you!

Well, green, pilots for one, and anyone else involved in jobs that require sharp motor skills.  It's an imperfect world out there.

How much Klonopin were you taking? How long were you on that dose? We need to know the answers to these questions.

You must NOT simply stop taking Klonopin! You have to taper off this medication very slowly to avoid many unpleasant, nasty and even life threatening problems.

I don't understand why you fear this medication showing up on a drug screen. It is a legal drug which your doctor has prescribed for you. Who the hell is this screen for? The CIA? FBI? NCIS? Who else would care that you're taking an antianxiety med? Companies who require drug testing are looking ONLY for illeagal drugs and the labs who do the testing report ONLY illeagal substances. They know how to tell the difference between crack and Klonopin.

If you are still adamant about getting off Klonopin, consult with the prescribing doctor who will set up a taper program for you. To attempt this on your own is just asking for trouble.
