Effexor XR 225 to Celexa 60 problems?

My NP switched me 9 days ago from Effexor XR 225 to Celexa 60 and I have been so sick, depressed, more anxiety and fearful of everything. When I called they said they have never heard of anyone having any problems which makes me worry more.  The druggest said I should have slowly weened from one to the other. Help, and I going crazy this time or is it the switching...Thanks, Auggie

I don't know how long you were on the Effexor XR, but you were at the max dose of this medication. My drug books ALL state that you should NOT abruptly withdrawl this medication after ONE WEEK of therapy!
I don't think there is any question as to why you are feeling so lousy. The pharmacist was correct telling you that Effexor needs to be slowly withdrawn.
You most certainly are NOT going crazy, but you'd be crazy not to find yourself a new doctor who knew what the hell he/she was doing. While I have a great deal of respect for NPs, I do not believe they have adequate training to be perscribing these types of meds.
Your pharmacist is a great source of information. They are DOCTORS of Pharmacology.
I wish you the best........you'll be fine.
