Benzo to Buspar

15 days ago I admitted myself to rapid detox to get off narcotic pain meds that I've been on for  5 years due to damage from surgery.  I have had severe anxiety throughout this whole time frame. The detox unit took all benzodiazepam (Klonopin) away as well as my ambien and muscle relaxant. My primary Dr. has me taking Buspar. I feel little if any benefit. I have trouble breathing and a constant heaviness in my whole chest/abdomen. Chest pains also start when I get really filled with anxiety.
What do I do?  It is too hard to function like this!

So far I really don't feel like it is doing a thing for me.  I am in such a state of depression and anxiety that nothing seems to help anymore,  except the klonopin, which was taken away when I came off all my med.'s.  I've been on it for quite awhile too(over a year). Anti-depressants just can't seem to bring me back to how I used to be.  I had been on paxil as well, but I had severe headaches with it so I've been switched from this to that more times than I can recall!

I take buspar but in conjunction with Paxil, an SSRI..I have read that to receive buspar's benefit in needs to be in conjunction with another medication.  It helps me a lot, but like I said, the paxil is with it.  Ask your doctor if this is so and what you can do about it. I hope you are feeling well soon.
