Obsessed about my heart

My doctor has put me on remeron and valium to help me get throgh the fears about my heart even though all tests have proved negative. He says that if the remeron doesnt work he would like to try luvox since he thinks I may have ocd.I cant stop thinking about my heart 24/7 and fear death all the time.Do you think remeron would be better or luvox for my condition. The valium certainly helps but i dont want to take it forever.Any advice would be appreciated.
Regards,
Dimi.

Cheers for your encouraging words.I feel better already.Knowing there are others out there who have, or are going through the same thing, is,in a positive way comforting.Take care.

Thanks for your comments and advice,it makes me feel better.Heart disease sort of runs in the family on my fathers side and now that I am 40 I seem to be dwelling on my own mortality.Father had an MI at 63 but survived. As to therapy I still have not found someone who was understanding enough.I may have to look at finding someone else.

Your doctor didn't suggest therapy?  To get to the bottom "why" you are so concerned with your heart?  Meds are a bandaid.  They will calm you down and maybe even not think so much about it, but for how long?  Till you get off of them?  Do you want to take them forever?  There is nothing wrong at the beginning to take meds ON TOP of professional help to find out why you are so afraid of dying and so afraid of your heart.

Did anybody in your family die of heart disease or sudden death because of a heart problem?  Sometimes this can cause severe anxiety about a certain illness because you think it will happen to you too.

Most of all TRUST your doctor when he says that your heart is fine.
