Exercising will not cause your RA pain to return, only if you overdo it and stress your body out too much it might trigger a flare.  Walking and swimming are very safe things to do and to help with weight control.  If you feel you need some support and encouragement come and join us on the Weight Loss and Dieting forum here on MedHelp.  I also find the food diary and weight tracker fantastic tools.

There is a chance that your daughter could get RA or another auto-immune disease but only a chance.  There is not always a direct genetic link.  Your husband's DNA is in there too.

I'd like to ask if you recently went off of birth control pills or are using any hormones to help you to conceive?  The reason I'm asking is the quick weight gain could be due to ovarian cysts which are more common in this situation.
