To my knowledge, they are similar terms but you should verify this with your doctor as I am not an expert (just a computer geek who has RA, AS, Sjogren's etc. with a passion for researching things online.)
Is there any difference between erosive and degenerative arthritis?
Because they called it erosive arthritis, it is likely an inflammatory form of arthritis. Osteo arthritis is not inflammatory. Forms of inflammatory arthritis include but are not limited to RA, psoriatic arthritis and gout. Your rheummy will need to investigate further. Please keep us posted on how you are doing and what you find out. We will help you in any way we can.
Thanks for answer to my question on lab work. I am going to a rheumatologist and have been for long time. x-rays show erosive arthritis of hands and wrists. Would lab results that I have be indicative of this and exactlywhat is erosive arthritis. Is it osteo or rheumatoid?
The lab work indicates the antibodies present in your body. These help the doctor diagnose you but have to be combined with your symptoms and physical evidence from an exam, x-rays and/or MRIs to determine your diagnosis. The most frustrating part of these tests is that you can test positive for something and not have it or you can test negative for something you do have. How long until your follow up appointment? Are you seeing a rheumatologist? If not, you probably should based on the labs. Rheummy's specialize in the vast number of autoimmune diseases and are best equipped to determine which diagnosis fits your profile.
