wondering if oral dosage of atropine sulfate can be fatal and why would this be prescribed for a patient suffering from COPD?

Atropine has been used by oral inhalation as a quick-relief for the short-term treatment of symptoms associated with COPD; however, a solution of the drug for oral inhalation no longer is commercially available in the US. Ipratropium bromide currently is the anticholinergic of choice when such therapy is indicated.

The oral tablet is not indicated for use in COPD.
