Should or not?

Should or not?

My one year old had an allergic reaction the her MMR shot 13 days after the fact.  At first the doctors weren't going to do anything well what could they right?  First they were telling me that she's sick, she has a very bad viral infection.  Than she started getting red bumbs it started around her chest in I could say 24 hours it went all the way down to her feet so I had to rush her back in cause the day before they told me it was a rash?!  But than another Ped doctor looked up every possible thing that could be wrong with my baby and came up with Oh yeah she could have had a reaction to the MMR.  I looked at him like ok I'm mad now! You doctors give me the run around saying oh it's just this it's nothing to worry about than you tell me she has a small case of the measles.  No something a mother wants to hear about her baby.
I couldn't get her to eat all she wanted to do was drink milk which they told me was fine she ended up losing five pounds in three days time.  Now they tell me my poor baby is under weight for her age and no matter what I do she isn't gaining any weight.  She eats and I give her extra fatting foods but she's not gainning anything.  If they had told me what was wrong in the first place I think I could've atleast stop her from losing that much weight?
I asked them when she had to take the MMR shot again and if I should consider giving it to her.  They told me I should not to worry about anything cause she had a later reaction that she didn't have the reaction one to two days after so I should just go ahead and give her the shot.  But the point is she had a reaction I don't want her to have another one and lossing any more weight.  What should I do I really can't afford to get a second oppion and I don't want my baby to suffer like how she did.
Should I or shouldn't I?  Please help!!!!!

i would repost this in the pediatric or maternal and child health forum. you may get more responses.

your post is a little confusing. you say she had an allergic reaction, then you say she had a mild case of the measles. which was it? if it was an allergic reaction, then i would find out what component she was allergic to and avoid that. depending on what addative/preservative she reacted to, you may be able to get a different brand of the vaccine. another option is to get the shots individually instead of as an MMR. if she indeed got a mild case of measles, then i wouldn't worry about any more side effects from the vaccine- she already had it. i would still get the rest of the series, as the MMR protects against some very serious illnesses that your child can get if she doesn't get the shots.

i am very concerned that you cannot afford to get a second opinion. does your baby have medical coverage? you need to have her seen to determine why she is not gaining weight. she may need bloodwork and a nutritionist.
