hypomania coming?

For the last 4-5 days I have been waking up(wide awake) at 3am. I feel a little run down later in the day, but for the most part I'm feeling "normal". I have seroquel for manic episode emergencies, but this doesn't seem to be that, yet. Should I just wait it out, or maybe adjust my medicines(lamictal, risperidal). I don't see my psyche for 2 more weeks. It's not urgent, but any input would be appreciated.

the best med i found to extinguish mania is seroquel, in my view the strongest antimanic. so if you are on seroquel then keep going. i find it extremely effective. if your mania is strong then it will take at a fortnight to extinguish it completely, but you would feel the change right away.

I am going through the same thing you are right now, also on Zeldox (Geodon in US), and Cipralex for depression. If you just started on the Seroquel, its going to take some time for your body to adjust to the new med., so insomnia is part of the side effects.

I am lucky in the fact that I am not working right now because of my disease, and the advice my doctor gave me was to "go with the flow", sleep when you are tired. My insomnia was so severe at one point she put me on Diazapam 5mg - to help me sleep.

My previous med was Quentiapine of which I was taking 600mg per day, and that took 3mths to get into my system, so if you are changing from one med to another, you have to remember the previous med has to be cleaned from your system before the new med can act properly.

Aside from that, I drink a lot of water during the day to flush my system.

Hope this helps.

Speak to your psychiatrist now and see what advice they give you as regards medication changes if needed. Hypomania can sometimes be a warning sign of full blown mania so be careful and inform your psychiatrist.
