Lithium side effects

I would like to know if it is common to experience dissociation for a long period of time, up to one year, after starting to introduce the drug into your body. As the dissociation starts to get better or I feel more of my body sensations my head hurts  likes hell with pressure, zaps in my head especially with anything I eat drink such as caffiene. When I do my head goes foggy and my body goes even more numb. I have never discontinued the lithium during this episode but this time, 3 months in I am to see I can stop the dissociation instead of waiting because this is hell living and waiting. I have a good doctor and and am getting hooked up again with another psychiatrist because they just keep going back to the medical. I work with people with mental health issues and have done lots of research. I am of sound mind, eat well, try to sleep well but have to take ziplocone in order to get some because my body is never tired ever!!!!! But I know I am not manic, I have only had one hypomanic phase 13 years ago. I have always been depressed. I know I need to be on a medication, I get that but am really questioning that lithium reacts to my extremely drug sensitive central nervous system . I am not getting any answers so am very frustrated and am taking matters myself but am weaning slowly so I don't have any issues with the withdrawal etc. i do that at work with the dual diagnosed clients I work with so I get that piece. Can you please shed some light on my question and give me a glimmer of hope that I may be onto something and advise is that is possible. Thank you.

Thanks for pointing that out because my naturopath just suggested that I do more of that too. I started doing tapping and am trying to meditate before bedtime. To me though it feels like my whole chemistry is out of wack in that I don't feel any emotions even though I laugh, cry etc. so not sure what is going on. Thanks for bringing that up though because it doesn't hurt at this point.

You are not a common case but I think you know that.  How often do you take time to meditate?  When you do what happens?
