Thanks again for the information! He had went to the ER last Thursday and is still currently there. They have seen the outburst and his DR. has also seen the behavior. I finally got the ER DR to do a cat scan Monday and nothing showed anything wrong there. He hasn't had no medicine since last Thursday morning. So far as of today he has been great and yesterday was also a great day. I have had word that they are going to send him home and made some appointments to go find out if there would be a better medicine for ADHD. I hope its just an issue that can be fixed over time.
I don't know what your finances are so this may not be feasible. The Amen Clinics do what is called a Spect Scan. It shows the areas of bloodflow to the brain and can pick up brain injuries and other areas of over activity or under activity. If you can afford it, wouldn't hurt to try. Then at least you'll have a picture of what you are working with and know if it is indeed an emotional problem or a physical problem.
The other thing I suggest is to video tape him while he is being violent and show that to the doctors. Sometimes a picture says a thousand words.
In the meantime try to find online, or in your community a support group for yourself. I don't know how to find one in the USA. In Canada your local branch of Canadian Mental Health would know or the Mental Health clinic. I sincerely hope you can find the help you need.
Thank you for the response. I can not get the doctors to seem to listen to me. I have asked for MRI or something of the brain to make sure nothing is going on there to rule that out. I have told them that his grandmother had severe bi-polar from birth father. They keep telling me its just behavior and how we are parenting. We have 3 other kids 12,9, and 9 months. 12 and 9 are my step kids that have had custody of for last 6 years. We do not give one different treatment. So, if it was just behavior and us then we would have more problems with older two.
If he has had behavioral changes that started when he had an accident think back if he fell and might have hit his head because it might be worthwhile to have him see a neurologist to rule out the potential of a tbi (traumatic brain injury) which they could do tests for. They could then speak to whomever is following up with him if he is seeing a child psychiatrist which is whom would be the most of help. Also in knowing how to cope with the episodes you are speaking about family therapy can be of help and support groups such as NAMI friends and family support groups as well.
