I would suggest keeping a Mood Tracker here and then bring the results to your psychiatrist. Certain mood stabilizers are better on rapid cycling than others but they could decide what is right for you based on that information and what you tell them as well.
Do you know if you have rapid cycling bipolar? I do, and basically it means that you can you can cycle through moods much faster than others with bipolar. You can go up and back down in a matter of hours.
Its scary - but its OK. You have to be really careful and make sure someone close to you knows that you go from manic to depressed quickly. Take your meds as you should and the most important thing (for me anyway) is my sleep pattern.
I was diagnosed 11 years ago and I am still learning to live with this condition. Hang in there and tale it day by day....and when it gets rough...take it minute by minute. Your not alone - even when it really feels like you are.
Take care!
